At the model launch in Paris, Suzuki unveiled its new GSX-R1000 K9 model. This model has an all new and more compacted engine and a shorter wheelbase, making for one spitfire of a sports bike! The engine has undergone some significant changes in this new model, featuring, as the highlights, a more over-square bore and stoke, a higher compression ratio, 12-hole fuel injectors, larger titanium valves, and a lot more power packed into a bike that is 59mm shorter from front to rear.
And don’t think that the engine is the only thing that has gotten a re-vamp in this latest release form Suzuki! The all new chassis design should serve the make this model more agile than ever before. It features a new shorter, twin spar cast cradle frame, which is connected to a new longer arched swing arm which is comprised of three castings. Suzuki boasts that their new bike will do better on the racetrack than any of its predecessors because the wheelbase has been shortened by 10mm.
The bike will also be equipped with new Big Piston Forks from Showa, which will improve the endurance of the race bike. Even with reduced weight, this bike will have feedback and response that will amaze the masses… at least, it will amaze the ones that try to beat it!
So, what can we say about the new 2009 Suzuki GSX-R1000 K9? Well, its small, lightweight, agile, faster than ever, boasts more horsepower than ever, and has established that no GSXR has ever looked better! It is smaller, more agile, and brings to the table unsurpassed handling and maneuverability. But yet, at the same time, cranks out astounding horsepower for its size, leaving the competition in the dust! So, will the new GSXR be worth the money? Well, lets put it this way. You will not want to miss this bike, that is for sure.
