As a GSXR owner, it is your job to know as much about your bike as possible. Air intake covers are designed with the purpose in mind of protecting the air intake from debris, dirt, or anything else that could get in to damage it. It also serves to keep the rider or anyone else from directly contacting the air intake for safety purposes. Air intake covers come in a wide range of designs, as well as in many different variations. For the most part, you will find air intake filters that are stylish to a degree, functional, and practical. However, like all things pertaining to motorcycles, you can basically choose what you want to spend on one. You can shoot low for a more practical model, or aim for the skies with a high performance racing grade intake cover. Or, you can go all out for show with a cover that is specifically designed to be “stylish”.
As far as air intake covers go, you will want to choose trusted brands to shop with. You should turn to the brands you trust most first, see what is available, and then check on what the price is. You should probably go with a middle of the line cover unless you are a professional racer. Most drivers will at least split their time between the track and the road, if they even hit the track at all. Now, if you simply take your bike to the lake every other weekend, you might be able to go with a very inexpensive cover with no loss of security. So, it is really up to how much you use your bike, and how far you travel on it when you are on it.

Do you commute to work with it every day? Is it your primary source of transportation? Do you just ride it for enjoyment three times a week? Do you take it out of the garage once a year or even less? These are all questions that can help you determine how professional the grade of your air intake covers should be. Now, with that said, there is nothing wrong with spending a little extra for a more professional-grade cover. If it is worth it to you to go with a pro brand, then by all means… do it! It surely won’t hurt your bike, it won’t hurt you, and if your pocketbook will be ok, then why not?
